Hyundai x United Nations Development Programme - Collaborating for a Sustainable Future

5 minute read

Sharing solutions for a more sustainable future is one of the most crucial ways that we can secure a better world both now, and for future generations. That’s why Hyundai has teamed up with the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) to launch for Tomorrow, a platform to empower local innovators to create a more sustainable future, from today.

Solutions

It’s time to drive transformation

Ensuring the planet’s future means finding new ways of operating.

Our world is changing, and changing fast. And the recent global pandemic, combined with other challenges and developments, only goes to emphasize the need to adapt and react - as quickly as we can. When it comes to securing a more equitable sustainable future for the world and its citizens, we need to be prepared to collaborate, adapt, and act.

Hyundai has already put in motion a number of initiatives to work towards this. We develop pollution-free mobility technologies such as electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, exploring untapped secondary possibilities and searching for ways to create a better, more sustainable world.

But for meaningful change, collective action is needed - and fostering collaborations and partnerships to further advancements is part of this process.

Tomorrow belongs to everyone

To maximise Hyundai’s impact, and encourage cooperation and collaborations, the company has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme. Working with a network of experts and partners in 170 countries, the United Nations Development Programme helps nations to build integrated, lasting solutions for people and planet.

Together we have created
for Tomorrow.

Development programme

For Tomorrow is launching a crowdsourcing platform that creates connections between local innovators, and gathers and curates solutions to the sustainability problems facing us all. As people submit their solution, they are joining a global network of innovators which includes the United Nations Development Programme Accelerator Lab network.

The objective? To build a better, brighter tomorrow by accelerating the world’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - 17 interlinked targets that address global challenges. With for Tomorrow we will start with a focus on SDG 11 - with an aim to make cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable by 2030.

The focus at Hyundai will be on shaping the future of mobility and urban living according to the principles of Progress for Humanity. How can citizens mitigate their impact on the environment while working to make cities more accessible? Can new transportation models improve connections between urban and rural areas while still prioritizing sustainable development?

for tomorrow

A universal call to action

Sustainable development is something we can achieve - but only through partnerships and collaborations that drive solutions from the source, and encourage change. Vital direct connections - between organizations, communities and the people required to make sustainable development a reality - need to be forged.

Hyundai is determined to create a happier world for everyone.

But if we are going to reach the SDGs over the next decade, the best solutions for sustainable development need to be realised, and brought to life.
